TrafficQuest

The rules of the game

  • Number of Players: 2 to 4 participants.
  • Minimum Age: 16 years.
  • Objective: Answer questions correctly to progress on the game board and achieve victory.
  • Setup Instructions:
    • Game Setup: Place the game board at the center of the table. Place the players' pawns on the starting square.
    • Card Distribution: Separate the cards into three piles based on color (green, orange, red), corresponding to the difficulty level (easy, medium, hard).
    • Order of Play: The youngest player starts the game. Play continues in a clockwise direction.
  • Gameplay:
  • Selecting Pawns:
    • Each player chooses three pawns of the same color, corresponding to their "box" on the game board. The color at the bottom of the pawn (Red, Orange, Green, Blue) represents the player throughout the game.
    • The top of each pawn has a different color:
      • One pawn with a Green top (easy level).
      • One pawn with an Orange top (medium level).
      • One pawn with a Red top (hard level).
  • Progression of Difficulty Levels:
    • Throughout the game, players use the pawns according to the color at the top.
    • Players start with the pawn with a Green top for the easy level.
    • Then, they switch to the pawn with an Orange top for the medium level.
    • Finally, they use the pawn with a Red top for the hard level.
    • During each turn, the player draws a card that matches the current level (Green, Orange, or Red), depending on the color at the top of their active pawn.
  • Reading and Timing:
    • The player draws a card and reads it aloud.
    • Then, they flip the hourglass to start the countdown. The hourglass determines the time allowed to answer the question.
  • Answering the Question:
    • If the player answers correctly before the hourglass runs out, they gain the right to roll the die.
    • If no player answers the question correctly, the player who read the card rolls the die instead.
  • Moving on the Board:
    • The player who rolls the die moves their pawn on the board according to the result.
    • If the player rolls a six, they can roll again and continue moving.
    • If the die shows three: The player moves backward by that number of spaces on the board.
  • Passing to the Next Player:
    • Once the player's turn is over, the next player takes their turn in a clockwise direction.
  • Winning Conditions:
    • The first player to reach the final space on the game board is declared the winner. To do so, they must have answered the maximum number of questions correctly and avoided moving backward on the board.
